  1. Funny, I put one of Chadwick's books on my list too although haven't read her for more than 20 years! I read First-Time Caller recently, which I enjoyed, and chose The Frozen River for my library's one-book community read. They are supposed to put our discussion with the author online but it is not there yet (maybe by the time you read it). You introduced me to Minnie Darke (she reminds me a bit of Maeve Binchy) but that one does not seem to be in my library system. I liked The Maid but not enough to read more in the series. War and Peace is heavy going but I read it after seeing a pretty good BBC miniseries some time ago. Happy Reading!
