Instead of "perhaps she'll die," she did - I swear! - "perhaps she'll get sick." The other way was just too disturbing, she confided in me afterwards. My husband and I still sing that and crack up.Jillhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09551558744801344170noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18884029.post-52352770022411548462009-03-05T11:25:00.000+11:002009-03-05T11:25:00.000+11:00Wow, I had no idea! But on the other hand, I remember reading an essay about fairy tales and why those dark, macabre stories are so well loved by children and allows them to think about concepts of good and evil. (I'm thinking of the Brothers Grimm in particular. I still remember one of the stories where this guy kills his grandmother and then props her up on the carriage and pretends she's still alive!)Kathttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02635753217472348567noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18884029.post-43581843678431018842009-03-02T09:02:00.000+11:002009-03-02T09:02:00.000+11:00OMG! Not that I should admittedly like the old version, but anyway! I am surprised they didn't totally rewrite Miss Polly had a Dolly because doctors don't really do house calls anymore, either... Let alone wait for money!Kailanahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11136262232046813471noreply@blogger.com
