I continue to eat it the entire trip (with an occasional crepe thrown in for good measure). Heaven knows what culinary delights I am missing out on because of my bread and cheese obsession, but it's a risk I'll take.Michelehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04873109350235219509noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18884029.post-73796291668988814622010-07-05T09:05:33.336+10:002010-07-05T09:05:33.336+10:00When we lived in France, my son and I walked to th...When we lived in France, my son and I walked to the bakery for bread. We ended up visiting this bakery near our hotel and I got a bread roll/baguette with butter and salami which was just delicious!Karenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15971901652392645980noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18884029.post-38731669949582903402010-07-04T03:25:18.331+10:002010-07-04T03:25:18.331+10:00What a great post!! I lived the better part of a year in Guernsey and we had access to Norman French, cider, breads, cheeses and all good foods. Mussels, escargot, lots of garlic.... OMG. Bread and cheese and Belgium chocolate on the train .... Sigh.

Thanks I think for sparking my memories.Beth Fhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08627666337961326265noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18884029.post-31981288490940997302010-07-03T22:04:10.162+10:002010-07-03T22:04:10.162+10:00I really enjoyed reading this post Marg. It is 10 years since I visited France and while reading the post I have been trying to remember the details of a delicious meal I had with friends in Paris. I think it may have been at a Lebanese restaurant. I remember we were there on July 14 because we saw all of the cylists ride in at the end of the tour de france. Which is about to start again.

I also went to Nice and Marseille and some cute little towns in Provence with names like Aix and Arles.

I do remember having mussels in white wine in Bruges in Belgium, also delicious. I remember enjoying Belgian beer too. And I don't normally drink beer.

Sorry for rambling on, but that is the power of food. Tastes and smells can transport one back through space and time very quickly don't you think?

Hope you enjoy the rest of the weekend :)Melhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09607373750758021528noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18884029.post-21290268119241843212010-07-03T20:43:57.911+10:002010-07-03T20:43:57.911+10:00just bread and cheese? oh, bread and cheese can be...just bread and cheese? oh, bread and cheese can be very, very nice.caitehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05824538078958999767noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18884029.post-23935870509494378602010-07-03T20:39:10.493+10:002010-07-03T20:39:10.493+10:00What a lovely post.:) I agree that simple food is ...What a lovely post.:) I agree that simple food is often the tastiest.
