I don't recall why. I did think her characters were not very likeable. Still, her writing style is intriguing and vivid -- I still remember feeling as if I'd been there with bombs falling all around me and I'm hoping to read more.Bookfoolhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08247136634069540446noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18884029.post-10899591264427654292008-11-19T19:01:00.000+11:002008-11-19T19:01:00.000+11:00Actonbell, her most famous book at this time is Su...Actonbell, her most famous book at this time is Suite Francaise. For me, the story of the book is as interesting, if not more, than the story in the book.

Danielle, the main reason why I commented on that aspect is because it is obvious that she has a penchant for writing unlikeable characters, and I wonder why.

Thanks Vickie!Marghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13508430635744720721noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18884029.post-37899193028284075172008-11-19T15:07:00.000+11:002008-11-19T15:07:00.000+11:00Hi Marg, there is an award waiting for you on my b...Hi Marg, there is an award waiting for you on my blog.Vickiehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09096758413292331253noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18884029.post-44089180735398870862008-11-19T10:31:00.000+11:002008-11-19T10:31:00.000+11:00I want to get this book as well and have looked at...I want to get this book as well and have looked at the UK copy as it is only in hardcover here (and the stories are different I think). It's interesting when authors write about characters that are not very likable. Sometimes if the story is really good, it doesn't really matter. Other times they can be annoying to the point of distraction.Daniellehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06415242678720695754noreply@blogger.com
