But in some ways I also found it to be almost too perfect - like a textbook example of 'how to write the perfect tale', and it ultimately left me a bit cold.Danielle Zappavignahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10493099952285137131noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18884029.post-12112776572539578792011-04-05T22:27:10.784+10:002011-04-05T22:27:10.784+10:00The Iliad and the Odyssey are books that I one day...The Iliad and the Odyssey are books that I one day hope to read, and I would bet that this book makes a really good companion piece to the former. In fact, I have never any of Malouf. I do own Remembering Babylon though, so I think I will try that one first.Rebecca Chapmanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14144719070318640603noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18884029.post-67097537096849529332011-04-05T11:31:43.951+10:002011-04-05T11:31:43.951+10:00I enjoyed this one - some of the rhythms of his la...I enjoyed this one - some of the rhythms of his language were so beautiful - and am keen to read his An Imaginary Life now, which is another ancient-themed work, on Ovid's exile. I found that Malouf required a lot of single-minded concentration, as you say!bibliolathashttp://bookforgetter.blogspot.com/noreply@blogger.com
