Never mind! We'll stick with Blogger which is what we know!
At the moment, I am trying to figure out how to get a new theme onto a wordpress blog, not because I really have one at the moment, but rather that I might be getting one soon (still working out the details on this, but you will know about it when it is all worked out!). I can't work out though how it is you upload a new theme. On Blogger I know that you copy and paste into the Template page, but I can't see anything similar anywhere on Wordpress.
Can anyone help?
I don't have Wordpress or else I'd help you out.
ReplyDeleteHa ha ha... hey Marg, are you running a Wordpress.com blog, or are you running a wordpress powered blog on your own server?
ReplyDeleteIf it's a wordpress.com blog, you have to go under presentation and choose one of the themes that are there. You can't use any other theme unless you pay and use the sandbox theme to create your own. That's the reason I set up my wordpress blog on my own server.
If you're hosting on your own server, you need to either design a theme of your own, or find a theme you like. Then you have to save that theme into your themes folder on your server, which you can then access under the presentation tab on your dashboard.
Hopefully that makes sense!
Thanks Kristina! We were trying to run a Wordpress.com blog but choose our own theme, so I guess unless we are prepared to pay then that's that!
ReplyDeleteThanks for responding!
Uh...whatever thoughts I had about Wordpress were firmly squashed with this.
ReplyDeleteFor me that's the only negative thing about Wordpress.com, not being able to modify your templates, cause since I moved from Blogger I never had the need to return. And I recommend Wordpress to anyone!
ReplyDeleteYou can't modify your template unless you pay but there are tons of different templates where you can modify your header and colours and they add more all the time, I can't remember the last time Blogger did that. Spam control is so much better, no need for typing letters, your dashboard tells you where your visitors come from and other great statistics. And there's more but I recommend you try it out and see for yourself. Never once was I disappointed! ;-)
I'd offer to help, but I've tried twice now to set up a Word Press blog and I got them set up but then couldn't get into them . They're out there in internet land somewhere, lonely, empty, scared, wondering if anyone will ever find them. And I have 3 Blogger blogs going through the same thing *sigh*
