Book release frustration

You know how there are sometimes books that you are just waiting to come out with a great sense of anticpation?? I have a few of those, but despite the fact that I check the online stores and the library catalogue every couple of days, they don't seem to be showing the titles I am waiting for. Today, I took it a step further to see whether I could track down any information on the publisher's website, and I have to say, the news wasn't that great!

The Death Mask by Ariana Franklin won't be released here until May 15 - it came out in other countries in December last year, under a different title (The Serpents Tale) I know but surely that doesn't justify such a delay.

Also released late last year was Libba Bray's The Sweet Far Thing. Is it going to be released here? Well, yes, but not until 1 July! Six months after the rest of the world! Gah!

No sign at all of a release date for The Seduction of the Crimson Rose by Lauren Willig.

Usually it doesn't matter so much, but I am awaiting these anxiously!

What books are other people waiting for with great anticipation?

  1. The longest I waited was for the book Fire Study by Maria Snyder. It just came out but we have been waiting for it for way too long because of publisher changes and stuff. The previous book in the series came out in October 2006 and this one just came out today.
There are a few books in a series that I eagerly await the next installment, but not too many (Suzanne Brockmann, Nalini Singh, Lora Leigh, Kresley Cole)

  3. Some UK releases are a couple of weeks behind the US ones - but I just go and haunt the bookstores that do direct US imports :-)

Of course, now I've an ebook reader, I can get books straight off US websites - I umm'd and ahh'd for ages over getting one but I *love* it now.

  5. Lisa Valdez had written a book call Passion. Since than she did had schedule release dates for Patience (the next installment) but she changed her mind. And it have been put off for long period of time(few years now). I hope she going to write it, because it seem like at this point it won't ever be written or any release publish dates *sigh*....

  6. I live in the US, but when I visit my husband's family in Hong Kong they always have the paperback version of books out way earlier than us. I got a copy of THe Time Travelers Wife while there five months before it was released in paperback here!

  7. Most of our books go straight into Trade paperback as opposed to hard cover.

  8. I'm now anxiously awaiting Carla Kelly's next book, which is mentioned in the current AAR ATBF.

And volume 10 of Brian K. Vaughan's Y: The Last Man graphic novel. And the next installment of Bujold's Fawn/Dag series.
