It's about knowing your own limitations!

I just wanted to wish everyone who is participating in the Read-a-thon on Saturday good luck!

I am not participating because whilst I survive on around 6 hours sleep most nights (not enough really), anything less than that and I will be feeling it for days and days afterward! All those who have signed up have my admiration, and good luck wishes for staying awake and alert!

As it is, I laid down on the couch for 10 minutes this afternoon after getting everything ready for dinner tonight and nearly fell asleep in that short amount of time! With the warmer weather, it is perfect barbecue weather, so I had friends around for dinner! The highlight was the fresh strawberries from the local market dipped in chocolate for desert - very simple, but oh my gosh it felt decadent!

Instead of reading all night I will be attempting to stay awake for the full 90 minutes of the Chelsea FC soccer game tonight. I do attempt to do this most Saturday nights, but generally am not too successful! I don't see tonight being very different I have to say! It is a little concerning when I set myself up to watch a triple header, and wake up to the sound of car racing having slept through all three games and not seen a single ball kicked! That's happened more than once!

  1. I wouldn't be able to do it either, I just need my sleep or else I'm bad humoured and cranky for days afterwards...

Are you a Chelsea FC supporter? Better yet, are you a soccer fan?

Those strawberries just sound so yummy ...

  3. After 5 years of living in the UK I gained an appreciation for the beautiful game. I certainly didn't appreciate it before I went over there, so now I try and watch at least some games every season, but they often don't start until late at night here on a Saturday.

  4. I see. I just asked because it's not usual to finds fans of the game in Australia or the US. It's the national sport around here and besides the national championship we also have the english, spanish and italian more important games aired on TV...

  5. Why don't you try these new Blogger templates for your blog. They're much easier to customize than other templates.

  7. Wonder why I didn't stumble on your blog before. It's quite interesting.
My blog just documents all my daily depressing thoughts and reading blogs like yours makes me want to expand my purview and put my writing to good use. (Hope I'm not overdoing the praise-thing.)
    Cheers!

  17. Yes, the blog list is really long! As of now I've clicked on 90 of them and left comments on most. Some wouldn't allow anonymous comments which was frustrating, and some didn't have Read-a-Thon posts, but otherwise it's been fun!

  20. Thanks for dropping by, and don't feel guilty about using the sleep deprivation card as an excuse for not participating! I feel your pain... I just stayed up to post my mini-challenge then I went to bed, and I've a couple of bits and pieces to do today too. I don't think anyone minds about not doing the full 24 hours, as Dewey very rightly says, there's no need to be masochistic about it, it's supposed to be fun!

Great site by the way, I'm really looking forward to coming back later and having a proper browse!
