Teaser Tuesday

Teaser Tuesday is hosted by Should be Reading:

  • Grab your current read.
  • Let the book fall open to a random page.
  • Share with us two (2) “teaser” sentences from that page, somewhere between lines 7 and 12.
  • You also need to share the title of the book that you’re getting your “teaser” from … that way people can have some great book recommendations if they like the teaser you’ve given!
  • Please avoid spoilers!

This week's teaser comes from paged 85 of The Lieutenant by Kate Grenville. I am very much looking forward to reading this one.

"Those buggers have forgotten us, " Timpson said sotto voce to Rooke, running a finger around his plate and sucking at it. "Spat us out and said good riddance. "

"Also when we played at cards miss haversham in this chair would look on, with a miserly relish of estella's moods, whatever they were. and sometimes, when her moods were so many and so contradictory of one an other that i puzzled what to say or do, miss haversham would embrace her and mumer something in her ear that sounded like 'break their hearts,my pride and hope, break their hearts and have no mercy'."

  4. Agnes & The Hitman, Jennifer Crusie and Bob Mayer (more than 2 lines but I couldn't stop!)

Agnes sighed. "His name is Three Wheels Thibault, and his grandpa, Four Wheels, who used to work for the mob, sent him to get the dog. The kid last night, Two Wheels, was his cousin who always picked on him. He says he hurt his ankle when you dropped him in the basement and he was going to sue you but I talked him out of it. I think he's bluffing."

Cam, thanks for sharing your Teaser!

Rikky, I am listening to this at the moment, only at very infrequent intervals, but I am enjoying it when I do listen to it.

Vickie, I would like to read that book.

Actonbell, I read that a while ago. I liked it, but struggled with it a little.
