Library Loot

Library Loot is a weekly event co-hosted by Eva and me that encourages bloggers to share the books they’ve checked out from the library. If you’d like to participate, just write up your post-feel free to steal the button-and link it using the Mr. Linky any time during the week. And of course check out what other participants are getting from their libraries!

I am a bit late putting up Library Loot this week! Sorry about that.

I was really glad to see a couple of new participants in Library Loot last week! Special welcomes to Christine from Happily Ever After and Lori from Let's Gab.

In terms of my loot, I had a pretty quiet library week. I am not sure what is going on but it seems like transfers between sites are taking ages as there are two books that have been in transit for more than three days. What will most likely happen is that all my holds will come in at once. That's what normally happens anyway.

Counting the Stars by Helen Dunmore - I cannot tell you how many times I have borrowed this book and returned it unread.

Grand Finale by Janet Evanovich - I think I have read all the other rereleased romance and thought some were better than others. Hopefully this is a good one.

City of God: a Novel of Passion and Wonder in Old New York by Beverly Swerling - I have been waiting for this book to both be released and for my library to get it in. I am the first person to borrow it so it will have that lovely new book smell!

What did you get out from the library this week?

  1. City of God looks like a great book. I will be interested in hearing what you think of it.

  2. Does City of God have a sequel? Or is it the sequel to another book? I have seen it around another book that is "City of _____", but I don't know how to fill in the blank.

  3. This is the fourth book in the series that started with City of Dreams, Shadowbrook and then City of Glory all set in early US history.

  4. i snapped up a few audio books in preparation for the start of our new school year--i'll be back to commuting in the car soon!

  5. I won Counting the Stars in a giveaway recently and I'm really looking forward to reading it!

  6. Oops, commented here earlier, but didn't show up. So in short, Counting the Stars and City of God both look good. Evanovich, eh. But to each his or, in this case, her own. :)

And a belated congratulations on your new job, Marg. Yay!

  7. I love the idea of this post - I love borrowing from the library! It's so much more cost effective compared to going out and buying book. I mean, hello!, I'm a starving student. I can hardly afford books I need for my classes! Anyway, my college campus library has a wonderful LINK+ system allowing me to get almost any book I want (sometimes there's a long wait for popular books, but if I can't wait, I buy).

Once I start borrowing regularly again, I'll be sure to add this feature to my blog!

  8. Nice loot! I liked Counting The Stars, but i didn't think it was in the same class as Helen Dunmore's earlier books

  9. I haven't done like a formal post about this, but I finally got a copy of "Thessaly: Witch For Hire", one of the spin off novels of the Sandman series. It was so hard to coordinate with the libary, so it was extremely rewarding to finally read it!
