TSS: July Reading Reflections

I am not quite sure how it can be August yet, but it is! To my mind, it should be no later than April or something like that!

The big news in our house today is that the boy played in his first ever footy final. If they had of lost they would have been out, but we live to play again next week! It was a come from behind win and the boy kicked a good goal. I wasn't quite so excited when we had to leave home this morning and it was cold and grey and wet, but it was worth it in the end! So exciting!

In terms of reading, I had a pretty good month, in that I met what I expect is probably my normal amount of reads in a month for the first time in a while. Here are the books that I read:

At Last Comes Love by Mary Balogh 4/5
Emma Vol 4 by Kaoru Mori 4/5
City of God by Beverly Swerling 4/5
Savor the Moment by Nora Roberts 4/5
Shadow of the King by Helen Hollick 4/5
Arcadia Falls by Carol Goodman 4/5
Tomorrow, When the War Began by John Marsden  5/5
The Truth About Lord Stoneville by Sabrina Jeffries 4/5
The Oak Apple by Cynthia Harrod-Eagles 4/5
The Passage by Justin Cronin 4/5
Sourcery by Terry Pratchett 4/5
The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner by Stephenie Meyer 3.5/5

I am not sure that I made a lot of progress in my challenges this month!

The first challenge to mention is the Harry Potter Reading Challenge being hosted by Michelle at Galleysmith which officially finished yesterday, and which I read a grand total of 0 books for. Yep. Total challenge fail!

From that dismal start it should only get better right? Hopefully anyway.

The book that I read for Year of the Historical challenge was City of God by Beverly Swerling.

I read three books for the Romance Reading challenge: At Last Comes Love by Mary Balogh, Savor the Moment by Nora Roberts and The Truth About Lord Stoneville by Sabrina Jeffries. I think I only have one more book to read and then I will have completed this challenge.

I read one book for the Aussie Author Challenge this month, and it was my favourite read of the month - Tomorrow, When the War Began by John Marsden. I am planning to have a review for this book up in the next couple of weeks. I have two more books to read before I have finished this challenge.

I have now completed 81 books for the 100+ Reading Challenge so I am still on target to complete that challenge, but I don't think that I am going to meet my aim for the Support Your Local Library Challenge. I have read 58 out of 100.

I hope everyone else enjoys their Sunday. I think I am going to go and try and warm up whilst finishing up my first August book! After that we will be heading down to the footy club to celebrate today's big win!

  1. You had a great reading month :) And like you, I can't believe it is August already!

  2. You have got me reading Emma. I read vol 1 a couple of weeks ago and I have vol 2 ready for me. I am looking forward to getting to now the characters more.

  3. A friend is bringing me her set of Nora Roberts' "wedding" books.

I think Arcadia Falls looks intriguing....

    Here's my salon:

  4. I haven't read any of those books, but a couple of them are on my wish list! Happy reading for August!

  5. Congratulations on the football win. I'll be looking out for your review of Tomorrow, When the War Began - such an interesting title.

  6. I didn't end up finishing the HP Challenge either! Only got 3 of them read . . . but I'm still reading on! Hope to finish them in the next week or so, but we will see!

  7. You had a terrific reading month! Wow. Lots of good books according to your ratings.
