Melbourne Central's Little Library Book Drive

I received this email during the week and thought I would share it with any Melbourne based book people!

I will definitely be checking it out next time I am at Melbourne Central.

The GPT Group’s Melbourne Central this month will launch their first-ever Little Library within the new The Corner precinct. The Little Library is a community space where consumers can swap and share their pre-loved books. Over time, the Little Library is set to become an interactive platform for the Melbourne Central community to come together. Melbourne Central is calling on Melburnians to get behind the initiative and donate their favourite novels to the creatively designed space which is expected to house over several hundred hard copy books.

Justin Shannon, General Manager at Melbourne Central said, “This is an exciting launch concept which aims to bring back the old fashioned pre-loved book shop. We hope the Melbourne Central community jump on board theLittle Library and donate their books, whilst enjoying other consumers’ favourite authors and stories.

“In true Melbourne Central style, the space will be quirky, off beat and an oasis within The Corner precinct for book lovers to escape to,” said Shannon.

The Little Library will operate through a borrowing system of honesty where consumers will share their pre loved books, borrow from the Little Library and return books when they have finished reading so others can enjoy.

The Little Library will launch with a book drive on July 12 and 13.

  3. Wow, such a good idea! I usually just give to my local library for cataloguing, but I'll bring a few over next time I'm over that way...
