Library Loot: 14 to 20 November

Library Loot is a weekly event co-hosted by Claire from The Captive Reader and Marg from The Adventures of an Intrepid Reader that encourages bloggers to share the books they’ve checked out from the library. If you’d like to participate, just write up your post-feel free to steal the button-and link it using the Mr. Linky any time during the week. And of course check out what other participants are getting from their libraries!

After a no loot week last week (and hence no Library Loot post) I am back with a fair haul. The scary thing is that I have even more books waiting to be picked up. I had been very controlled about what I was putting a request on but that seems to have gone by the wayside this week! Oh well....

Add your link to Mr Linky to share your Library Loot post:

Here's what I got last week:

One Was a Soldier by Julia Spencer-Fleming - The next book in the Rev Clare Fergusson/Russ Van Alstyne series. I really enjoy this series and while I am looking forward to reading it, I also am conscious that I am getting to the point where I am all caught up.

A Half Forgotten Song by Katherine Webb - I had no idea that Katherine Webb had a new book out until just a couple of weeks ago.

Blue Monday by Nicci French - I got given the second book in this series as a review book but I really don't like reading out of order, so I am going to read this one first.

Miracle and Other christmas Stories by Connie Willis - I heard about this book last year but didn't get to it. This year I will!

Both Sides of the Gun by Ben Harper - On the weekend I went to see Ben Harper do an acoustic concert and it was amazing! Before going though, I really wanted to brush up on some more of his music. The only problem was that I forgot to unlock the CD case and so I couldn't end up listening to it! Didn't matter in the end but after going to the concert I think I am going to reborrow this so that I can actually listen to it this time! One of the songs that he played was Morning Yearning, which he said was a difficult song for him to sing, and one that he doesn't sing often, because the video was directed by his friend, the late Heath Ledger

  1. I might have to pick up those Connie Willis Christmas stories come Decemember; they sound like some excellent seasonal reading. Enjoy your loot!

  2. I know what you mean about the Russ/Clare books, but even though I knew I'd have a wait for the next one, I couldn't help myself. Had to devour the last ones immediately!

I'm glad to hear you had a good time at the concert. I don't know Ben Harper very well but I love acoustic guitar music.

  3. I hear you. I've got more than I can read but that doesn't seem to be stopping from grabbing more.

  4. My library book pile on my nightstand is increasing quite a bit...I just can't help my self! Enjoy your loot! Btw, I love Ben Harper! :D

  5. I think I won a copy of Blue Monday awhile back, but I haven't gotten the chance to read it yet. It sounds and looks like you got a lot of great reads, and I am really excited for you to start them and see what you think!

  6. I quite liked Blue Monday and Tuesday's Gone

  7. Nice library loot this week. I just got a library card this week so that I can borrow library books from the library so maybe I can participate in this meme in future :-)

I look forward to your thoughts on the Katherine Webb book.

  8. Very jealous that you got to see Ben Harper. His song "Don't Give Up On Me Now" is on my playlist for the new novel-in-progress. I especially love the accoustic version:

See? There's another thing we have in common :-)

  9. Enjoy your loot! I had the Willis out from the library last year, but didn't get a chance to read it. :(

  10. I can't believe I haven't tried Julia Spencer Fleming and Nicci French yet. Especially as they are sitting in the TBRB pile...
The Connie Willis I read a few years ago, liked some stories more than other but it was generally a good read.

  11. Haven't posted recently due to illness but I've been reading a lot. So many new ones coming out just now, it's hard to keep up. I really like those book covers. Happy reading.
