Just Wild About Harry

This week's Booking Through Thursday question:

1. Okay, love him or loathe him, you’d have to live under a rock not to know that J.K. Rowling’s final Harry Potter book, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, comes out on Saturday… Are you going to read it?

2. If so, right away? Or just, you know, eventually, when you get around to it? Are you attending any of the midnight parties?

3. If you’re not going to read it, why not?

4. And, for the record… what do you think? Will Harry survive the series? What are you most looking forward to?

I will be reading it, but not for a while yet! I actually haven't read books 5 and 6 yet! I own them. Part of the reason why I am not in any hurry is that I own all the other books in paperback, so I am going to need to wait for another year at least before I can get the book that matches my set!

Luckily for us, the release time here in Australia is a very dignified 9am on Saturday...no midnight parties here, although there is going to be a large event in one of the public spaces in the city, and when I went to the bookshop today there was a notice saying that they were going to be open 2 hours earlier.

As far as what's going to happen, I think Harry will survive, and I just hope that Ron does as well! Having said that, I am sure that I will know by early next week exactly who did die....people can't seem to stop themselves from sharing those kinds of spoilers.

Just as an aside, I went to Barnes and Noble online today, and there are already 625 reviews up, and the first 5 are all rated 5 stars....hmmm. I thought they were meant to be REviews!

  1. Although I don't have the books...but I'd like to see Harry (Ron and Hermione as well) survive the series! I'm sure readers worldwide share the same sentiments.

  2. Hi Marg! I too have not read all the books yet. I'm only on book #3. But eventually I will them all. I going to go ahead and buy the book, just because it is the last book and I know I can't wait to read the last book once am done with the other. I don't think I can be patience enough to wait for it in paperback either *grin*

I do hope that Harry, Ron and Hermione live. I'm pulling for Ron and Hermione to be together too *grin* Hope you have a Happy Harry Potter weekend!

  3. I'm pretty OC with my books, so for collection's sake, I want one that matches my other copies too.

I can't wait to finally get to the end of the Harry Potter series, though it'll be sad to end their stories. Still, I'm sure it's going to be exciting.

  4. How the heck are people reviewing it already? I don't think the shops even have their copies yet. Oh well.

I am sure people telling you who dies won't spoil the ride of reading it when you get around to it.

  6. I will be totally bumming if one of them dies, but I really do think it will be Harry. Sad as it will be....

Since I'm all about strong female characters, I would be devastated if Hermione dies!!

Can't wait to see how it all ends!

  8. I'm about 2/3 of the way through Book 6 so I'm just about ready to start on Saturday.
I usually like consistency but broke it from book 5 (I have 1-4 in paperback)by getting it in hardback. Then I really broke the consistency with Book 6 since I much preferred the Adult cover. I've opted again for the Adult cover for Book 7. So much for my set! But I have been thinking of replacing them with a complete box set once it's out. :P

  9. Although I'm not a Potter fan, it would be too sad if he died, or his friends for that matter either.

  10. I think some fans got carried away and decided to give accolades to Harry early. :-)

  11. I've fallen for Harry only this year. I ordered the whole series in English, and in hardback, and will receive my 7th, and last Potterbook tomorrow in the mail. But...first I will have to read the first 6. I read book one years ago in Dutch, so I''l have to start over to let the original language sink in. In Dutch they all have different names, except for Harry himself. They already look so good on my bookshelf, all in the same size and design..:) This is going to be my winter reading project!

BTW: Thanks Marg for your words of encouragement on my blog. Made me feel real good!!

  12. Sounds like a fun winter project!! What are the character's names in Dutch?

    And you're welcome!
