So Oprah has a new book out
So Oprah announced a new book club pick on Wednesday's show, and for the first time since she restarted the book club, I have absolutely NO interest in reading it! There have been some that I haven't been completely over the moon about reading but there was still a little enthusiasm. The book she chose was A New Earth by Eckhart Tolle - apparently a self help book. I don't know. It seems that she has plenty of opportunities to push self help books without having it as her book club selection as well.

I thought the same thing today when I saw that. Couldn't she just have this guy on the show one day. I haven't liked a lot of her choices, I did enjoy "The Reader" though, and I believe they are making that into a movie.

I think I have read every book since the book club was relaunched a couple of years ago...except for Pillars of the Earth, which is kind of ironic considering how much Historical Fiction I read!
ReplyDeleteI loved Pillars of the Earth! And I read it before Oprah picked it. It was epic, and historic, and one of her better picks. I'm sure it was purely coincidental that this book was picked just before the sequel came out. There would be no publishing shenanigans in her pick.

and now the book/monday night classes are about? Ta darr change!
I think she will loose many serious reading followers by this choice.
I cant stand the show any more as it is all about 'Oprha's causes', which for sure have there time and place but I have to wonder if it's not really about audience manipulation.
