Historical Fiction Reading Challenge

Annie from Reading, Writing and Ranting is hosting a new challenge called the Historical Fiction Reading Challenge. The challenge runs from 1 April to 1 October and basically the only rule is that you need to read 6 historical fiction books during that period.

Before I could decide on which books I am going to read, I need to decide which button to use:

Anyway....the books that I am going to list for this challenge are:

Rose of Sebastopol by Katherine McMahon
Rhett Butler's People by Donald McCaig
Aztec by Gary Jennings
Dreaming the Serpent Spear by Manda Scott
Counting the Stars by Helen Dunmore
The Witches Trinity by Erika Mailman

and as spare/alternate choices

Everyman's Rules for Scientific Thinking by Carrie Tiffany
Master and Commander by Patrick O'Brian

  1. I just joined this challenge as well. I haven't made an entire list yet but my first book will be The Sealed Letter by Emma Donoghue.

I hope your hopes aren't too high for Rhett Butler's People. While I didn't think it was a compleate wast of time, I was disappointed.

Heres a link to my review (in case you didn't see it):

  2. Hi Marg. Thanks for joining the challenge! I've heard so many mixed reviews on Rhett Butler's people so I'll be interested to read what you think.

I LOVED 'Into the Wilderness' so I'm reading the sequel for my first book in the challenge. Isn't Nathaniel fantastic? What a guy!
