Sick...again

It has been a really bad season for illnesses in our house this winter. From infected ears, fingers, skin and colds, I have had a lot of time off work. One of the pitfalls of being a single parent is that if your child is sick, you are the one who has to look after them. And if you are sick yourself, there's not a whole lot that you can do about that either. For the first time since I was 18 I have run out of sick leave. The first year out of school I ran out (I may have chucked one or two sickies!) but since then never ran out.

This time last month I posted about my ills then. Now, I have tonsilitis. The irony is that I haven't ever really suffered from this. When they were teenagers my sister and brother both used to suffer from it a lot, but not me.

I am supposed to go back to work tomorrow but we'll see. At the moment it still hurts to swallow, but not as badly as it did a couple of days ago.

  1. Hope you feel better soon. Are you at least getting a lot of reading done?

  2. Not really. Because it hurts to swallow I get a little distracted everytime I do! That, and I keep on falling asleep! LOL!

  3. Aww! So many bloggers are getting sick lately. I had my tonsils removed when I was 16 (which made it even harder to get better afterwards) because I kept getting sick all of the time. I hope you get better soon! Eat soup and read lots of book!

  6. Feel better soon, Marg! I used to get tonsilitis pretty often when I was younger, so I know how annoying it is. Once I spend a whole week without being able to swallow :/

  7. The only problem is that you can't not swallow!

  11. Oh...that sucks! I hope you feel better soon.

I was off work for 3 days this week. Of course, it was due to my own clumsiness. I was playing around with the girls, and I fell. Hard. Into the door frame. I thought I broke my arm. Luckily it wasn't broken. But it's all kinds of black and blue and purple now. Hurts like the dickens too.

  17. I brought home a cold of sorts from MWF too Marg. But I think Sunnie brought it from Tassie. Drat the generosity of friends.
