A musical interlude

One of the forums that I hang out at on a regular basis has a monthly avatar theme. For November the theme is going to be Broadway or musicals. As tempted as I am to choose something from Wicked, or one of the other more modern musicals, in the end I think I am going to end up using something from one of the older musicals - My Fair Lady. This was actually on TV the other Saturday afternoon, and I really enjoyed watching the movie. There were so many beautiful scenes and beautiful dresses!

Of course, searching for images from the movie led me to Youtube, and so I have spent a while looking through the various clips available. In the end I have chosen the clip at the Ascot races. The only bit that is missing is Eliza yelling "C'mon Dover. Move your bloomin arse!". There was one that had both the song and that bit, but it is over 9 minutes long and so seemed a bit long!

  3. Oh--maybe you are the lady I need to talk to! I listen to musicals at work (because I am the supreme nerd) and need some new ones. So, I've been listening to Les Mis, Wicked, Rent, Phantom, Evita, and Miss Saigon--what else would you recommend??? I am sick that I can't find my Aida CD to put on my ipod, but I need something fresh...

  4. I love My Fair Lady. I think it was my very first musical and is why I love Rex Harrison and Audrey Hepburn today. If I'm not mistaken, the fashions from this movie were featured in Vogue when it first came out.

Have you seen High Society with Bing Crosby and Frank Sinatra? That's also a really good movie.

  9. I LOVE My Fair Lady. I recently saw the older black and white version Pygmalion and thought it was pretty great too. Although I am a huge Audrey Hepburn fan so... And I recently made my husband watch the movie and he said that now so many Family Guy references make sense :)
