Teaser Tuesday

Teaser Tuesday is hosted by Should be Reading:

  • Grab your current read.
  • Let the book fall open to a random page.
  • Share with us two (2) “teaser” sentences from that page, somewhere between lines 7 and 12.
  • You also need to share the title of the book that you’re getting your “teaser” from … that way people can have some great book recommendations if they like the teaser you’ve given!
  • Please avoid spoilers!

This week's Teaser Tuesday comes from page 161 of Tiger Claws by John Speed. I read the prequel to this book (The Temple Dancer) a couple of years ago and really enjoyed it, partially due to a very unusual setting - 17th century India. I am not sure that I am enjoying this one quite so much as, even though it has some of the same characters, it feels very different! I also had a bit ofa hard time choosing a teaser that wasn't either incomprehensible without at least some explanation, or a spoiler, but I think I found one in the end.

Khalil pulls back from the edge with a sudden violence. "A Turtle! There can't be a turtle in a well that deep!"

  1. Certainly a beautiful cover. It's too bad you are not enjoying it as much as the first one.

  3. I have The Temple Dancer in my wishlist, so it's good to know you liked it, Marg. It seems I'll be adding this one as well... I'm always looking for new historical books set in India.:)

  8. I also enjoyed the Temple Dancer. To hear the sequel isn't as great is a bit of a bummer. I do appreciate your honesty though.

  9. Jenny Girl, it just feels like a totally different type of book. To be fair to the author, he did mention that on his website and author interviews, but I was hoping that it would mean a better book.

me, I definitely would recommend it to someone who is looking for a book with an unusual setting.

Alex and Kailana, I think you would both like The Temple Dancer.

Thanks to everyone for dropping by.
