Library Loot: December 1 to 6

Library Loot is a weekly event co-hosted by Claire from The Captive Reader and Marg from The Adventures of an Intrepid Reader that encourages bloggers to share the books they’ve checked out from the library. If you’d like to participate, just write up your post-feel free to steal the button-and link it using the Mr. Linky any time during the week. And of course check out what other participants are getting from their libraries!

December is here already and for the next couple of weeks at least that means lots of social activities! I am hoping I manage to fit in visits to the library still!

Here's my loot for this week:

Churchill's Hour by Michael Dobbs - As I mentioned in my post yesterday, some how I managed to read books 1, 3 and 4 in this series. This is book 2, so I am planning to read it so that I can cross another series off my list of incomplete series.

Darkness, Be My Friend by John Marsden - This is the fourth book in the Tommorrow series by Aussie author John Marsden. A lot of people have said that this is where the series started going downhill but I guess we will see.

Empire of Silver by Conn Iggulden - (reloot) This is the fourth book in the series that started by looking at the life of Genghis Khan, but now is moving onto Kublai Khan

Losing Your Pounds of Pain: Breaking the Link Between Abuse, Stress and Overeating by Doreen Virtue - I saw this book mentioned in a Teaser Tuesday post, and because it is somewhat relevant to me, I thought I would borrow it. I don't often read self help books, and I have no idea about this author, so it could be something of a risk, or it could turn me into a blubbering mess really.

Mr Peanut by Adam Ross - I have been listening to a lot of podcasts lately, including Bookrageous, and this book is one that has been heavily recommended, so I am giving it a try.

The Third Pig Detective Agency by Bob Burke - I saw this mentioned over at Page Turners, and I just had to find out more about it!

Want to share what loot you go this week? Add your link to Mr Linky so we can all come and check out your loot!

  1. I'm definitely one of those readers who thinks that Darkness, Be My Friend is where the Tomorrow series started going downhill but I know other people who have liked it.

    Enjoy your loot!

  2. Oh my gosh! I LOVED Mr, Peanut and thought it was such a strange and odd book. I hope that you love it and I will be interested in hearing what you think of it. It hasn't gotten a lot of blog coverage. It can be incredibly chewy and interesting, and you really get the chance to delve deeply into the minds of the main characters. It was kind of hard to summarize though! :)

  3. I received the first in Marsden's series yesterday. I started reading about 8:00 and couldn't stop! I will be ordering the next couple in the series for sure.

Tried The Third Pig some time ago, but although I love the cover, just couldn't get into the book.

  7. As a librarian, I think the idea of sharing what I checked out of the library is a great way to promote the use of libraries. Thanks Marge and Claire for your support of libraries.

  13. Hi Romance Novels Online, I just reposted my reviews of the three books I have read in the series,

Samantha, the first three books were all good.

Lady Q, I have read the first three in the series and thought it was really good.

Erin, I have heard a lot too.

Lover of Romance, I will definitely be by to see what loot you got.

    Linda, thanks for stopping by.

    Pam, me too

Jenclair, love it when that happens. I suspect Third Pig is one of those love it or hate it kind of songs.

Zibilee, glad to hear you enjoyed Mr Peanut.

Claire, guess I will find out for myself soon!
