Library Loot: February 1 to 7

Library Loot is a weekly event co-hosted by Claire from The Captive Reader and Marg from The Adventures of an Intrepid Reader that encourages bloggers to share the books they’ve checked out from the library. If you’d like to participate, just write up your post-feel free to steal the button-and link it using the Mr. Linky any time during the week. And of course check out what other participants are getting from their libraries!

Before I share my loot this week, I thought I would share a short quote from page 46  of The Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie by Alan Bradley (yes, another one!).

I thought that my fellow library lovers might like it!

As I stood outside in Cow Lane, it occurred to me that Heaven must be a place where the library is open twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week.

No ... eight days a week.

I definitely agree! Of course, there are only so many books that you can have out at any one time.

Here are the books I picked up this week:

Bride by Mistake by Anne Gracie - Anne Gracie is going to be the special guest at my romance book group next week. This is her latest book, which is the allocated read. It is the fourth (?) book in her current series, and I don't like reading out of order, but I have been assured that this time it will be fine! We will see.

A Countess Below Stairs by Eva Ibbotson - Also for the romance book group, this is Anne's second choice of the books we should read for the discussion.

The Darling Buds of May by H E Bates - This is my online book group read for February. I am grateful that it is only short!

A Summer in Sonoma by Robyn Carr - Now that I have read all the Virgin River books and all the Grace River books, I guess it is time to explore some of her standalone titles!

Instant Gratification by Jill Shalvis - The next book in my quest to work my way through Jill Shalvis' backlist!

Stasiland by Anna Funder - Having recently read Anna Funder's fiction book All That I Am, now it is time to read her acclaimed non fiction book Stasiland.

Head over to Claire's blog to share you Library Loot link this week.

  1. Looks like you picked up some great books at the library! Bride by Mistake looks like a good read.
I finally re-signed up to my local library network after my membership from school expired (about 10 years ago!)and i lost my card. It was quite exciting to go in and browse. I only picked up a writing book though because I have too many books to read at the moment.. but all those free books to borrow was very tempting!

  5. My daughter loved A Countess Below the Stairs, and has told me several times that I need to read it. Perhaps your review will sway me in that direction! Lots of great books here!

I have been going crazy at the library, and ordering and ordering books for myself, only to discover that they all arrive at the same time! Now I feel a pressure to read them all before they are due! It's the newest form of my books addiction!

    1. Zibilee...assuming I will actually get around to writing a review is a bit ambitious really!

I know exactly what you mean about the library being a form of book addiction....believe me!
