Library Loot: July 11 to 17

Library Loot is a weekly event co-hosted by Claire from The Captive Reader and Marg from The Adventures of an Intrepid Reader that encourages bloggers to share the books they’ve checked out from the library. If you’d like to participate, just write up your post-feel free to steal the button-and link it using the Mr. Linky any time during the week. And of course check out what other participants are getting from their libraries!
Remember last week I talked about how from now on I was going to be more controlled with my library requests? Before I start listing all the books I got last week, I just want to be clear that this lot all comes from before I instituted that restriction! I have only broken that once, not that it looks like it from this list!

Claire has Mr Linky this week, so head on over to share your loot. Share your loot by adding the link to your post to Mr Linky below. In the meantime, here's my loot for this week!

The Daughters of Mars by Thomas Keneally - I have a couple of Thomas Keneally books sitting on my shelves, but I haven't ever actually read him. This subject of this book, sisters become nurses and head off to the battlefields of World War I.

The Proposal: A Novel by Mary Balogh - Once upon a time I was on a quest to read through Mary Balogh's backlist. I have no idea why I stopped reading her, but I haven't read one of her books for at least three years. Time to get back to them.

The Chaperone by Laura Moriarty - A few weeks (or maybe months ago) this book was everywhere in blogland and it just sounded so good!

The Case of the Missing Servant by Tarquin Hall - It was actually the title of a later book in the series that caught my attention (The Case of the Deadly Butter Chicken) but I can't start a series anywhere but at the beginning so I had to get this one.

Poppy at Summerhill by Gabrielle Wang - The next Our Australian Girl series. I read the first one last year so this is the second. By the way, Gabrielle Wang is the author in residence at Inside a Dog at the moment and she mentioned the other day that she is writing another Girl, this time set in WWII, which I was thrilled to hear!

The House on Olive Street by Robyn Carr - This is reloot. I am now working my way through Robyn Carr's single titles as I wait for the next Virgin River releases.

The Duff: Designated Ugly Fat Friend by Kodie Keplinger - When this first came out a few years ago, I wasn't that fussed about reading it. I have, however, heard lots of great things about her new book but that isn't on the library shelves yet, so I requested this one instead.

The Thread by Victoria Hislop - For a blog tour coming soon. I really enjoyed The Island when I read it earlier this year so I am looking forward to reading this one.

Fables: Storybook Love by Bill Willingham - The next book in the Fables series.

Last Act in Palmyra by Lindsey Davis - The next Marcus Didius Falco mystery.

Three Nights with a Scoundrel by Tessa Dare - The third book in the Stud Club trilogy.

I Shall Not Want by Julia Spencer-Fleming - Reloot. Really need to read this next book in the Rev Clare Fergusson/Russ van Alstyne series.

The Garden Intrigue by Lauren Willig - Another reloot. This is the latest book in the Pink Carnation series.

  3. I ended up liking the 5th pink carnation book once I got into it--hope you enjoy yours! And I hope you get a chance to read the Russ and Clare. That's my favorite in the series.

  8. I have read that Tarquin Hall book and quite enjoyed it. It was fairly generic in terms of those detective series, but in a good way :-)
