Alphabet 2020: W is for Wedding Anniversary

I mentioned a couple of days ago that it was my wedding anniversary. We got married on a beach in Vanuatu, just the two of us, and it was perfect. Then,  a few weeks later, we had a big party at home. A big advantage of doing it this way.....I got to wear my dress twice, and I got to do my hair differently both times.

I am sure I am not the only person - wait, this is both of our responsibilities - we are not the only people who haven't organised their wedding photos at the first anniversary.

We did get a photo book done of the actual wedding to send to our mothers, so it was kind of done, but we haven't done anything at all with the photos from the celebration party with friends and family which we held a few weeks after the big day.

Sitting here tonight looking through the photos of both events has bought back so many good memories and makes me think that I actually really do need to get this finished...I mean started and finished. So, to help inspire me and remind me to get it done,  here are a couple of photos from both weddings.

Firstly on the beach in Vanuatu! You can see a couple more photos from that here

And then from the party we had at home to celebrate with family and friends.

Maybe by the second anniversary we will have the wedding book done, the big picture printed, framed and on the wall, plus whatever else we should have already done! And then maybe we can focus on the holiday photo books that we meant to do from our last 3 big trips!

  5. Happy anniversary! Yes, you are right, I hadn't even got round to choosing which photos I wanted from the photographers' proofs... and it's only a couple of years since I got round to scrapbooking the casual photos, and we've been married for 20-something years now.
I'm very happy to have a nice album of the ceremony and the scrapbook as well, but I wonder if the reason so many of us take so long to do the photos is because there's a feeling that they ought to be perfect, just like the wedding had to be perfect. So my advice is, don't set a super-high standard for yourself in terms of how it looks. What matters more, and will matter to your descendants, is what you write about the photos, your memories of the day. And don't forget to name all the people in the photos!!

  6. Happy Anniversary, Marg! I love all of the photos and your dress is lovely. That cake is wonderful, too. Your hubby looks like such a nice man. I hope you have many, many years of love & laughter. Funny about the photo album. My daughter and son-in-law were married a year ago in September and she still hasn't done anything with their photos. I put together an album for them (and us) with all of the candid shots I took, but I still haven't seen the professional photos. I'm going to have to start nagging her! ;) Again, Happy Anniversary. Ours is tomorrow (32 years)!
