Top Ten Tuesday: Unread Books on My Kindle - Part Two

Welcome to this week's edition of Top Ten Tuesday which is hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. This week's theme is Favorite Book Quotes (You can pick your favorite quotes from books, or about books! You can set a theme like quotes from books about love, friendship, hope, etc. or you can just share quotes you loved from your recent reads!). I don't often keep note of quotes so I am going rogue again this week .... yes, again!!!

A couple of weeks ago there was a theme which was Unread Books on My Shelves I Want to Read Soon. I chose to focus only on the books that are on my Kindle. At the time, I said I could easily do this topic again, so I am going to! So here are ten more books that have been languishing on my Kindle that I would buy again!

You Had Me At Hello by Mhairi McFarlane - I actually have a couple of her books on my Kindle

The Family Next Door by Sally Hepworth - I feel like it is a bit sacrilegious to have not read any of Sally Hepworth's books

The Familiars by Stacy Halls - Stacy Halls writes such interesting sounding books!

The Pearl of Penang by Clare Flynn - I have all three of the books in this series. I am keen to read these because of the setting.

Bellewether by Susanna Kearsley  - To be honest I am a bit shocked that this book is on my list. I love Susanna Kearsley, and was very excited when she announced a new book just this week, only to realise that I still haven't read this book.

A Gentleman in Moscow by Amor Towles - I read Lincoln Highway a while ago, but haven't managed to read this one yet. 

The Pretty Delicious Cafe by Danielle Hawkins - I really must read this.

The Naturalists Daughter by Tea Cooper - I actually have a few Tea Cooper books to read.

Clap When You land by Elizabeth Acevedo - I loved With the Fire On High so much when I read it, I pre-ordered this book....and still haven't read it!

The Lost Girls of Devon by Barbara O'Neal - I have a few books by this author too!

Top Ten Tuesday: April reads

This week's theme is April Showers — Pick your own title for this one to reflect the direction you choose to go with this prompt (books with rain on the cover/in the title, that have rainstorms in the story, or that have anything to do with rain)


I expected to find quite a few titles on my list of books I have read with the word rain or showers or something like that but I was wrong. Therefore, my twist is that instead of focusing on the word Showers, I am going to share 10 books I have read in April over the years.

It is interesting to see how my reading has changed over the years.

Top Ten Tuesday: Kiwi Authors

 

Welcome to this week's edition of Top Ten Tuesday which is hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. This week the theme is TTT Rewind (Pick a previous topic that you missed or would like to re-do/update.) However, I am currently in New Zealand so instead I bring you ten Kiwi authors. 

Nalini Singh - I read quite a few of Nalini Singh's paranormal romance novels back in the day!

Deborah Challinor - I visited my friend in New Zealand a few years ago and bought this book. Challinor is a Kiwi author but this book is set in Australia's colonial past.

Danielle Hawkins - I have read a couple of this author's books. I really need to read the rest of her backlist!

Lucy Parker  - Lucy writes amazing contemporary romance novels. I can't wait to read the next book in this series which is due out in August. 

Lloyd Jones - I had completely forgotten that Lloyd Jones was a Kiwi author until I was looking through my reviews

Murray Ball -  He is more a cartoonist than an author, but I am including him on my list because my grandfather loved his books!

Ruth Park - There needs to be at least one controversial choice on her. Park was born in New Zealand but lived in Australia for years and wrote some Australian classics like Harp in the South.

Eleanor Catton - I went and saw this author talk about her breakthrough novel The Luminaries. It sounds fascinating but I still haven't read it.

Heather Morris - It was only when I was in a bookshop here and saw her books on the NZ author shelf that I remembered that this author definitely had a Kiwi accent when I heard her speak a few years ago. She does live in Australian now though!

Soraya Lane - I have had this author on my list of authors to read for ages!

Top Ten Tuesday: Books Set In a Place I’d Love to Visit (real places or fictional)

 

Welcome to this week's edition of Top Ten Tuesday which is hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. This week the theme is Books Set In a Place I’d Love to Visit (real places or fictional). This is a topic that I feel like I done recently but it is actually a couple of years ago now! So this week I am going to share some books set in places that we plan to visit soon.

We are planning a weekend away in Adelaide for my brother's 40th birthday soon.

Mix Tape by Jane Sanderson (review) - This book is set in both Adelaide and Sheffield in the UK, which is a place I lived in for four years back in the late 1990s.

At some point this year I need to go to Perth to see the family over there


Taking a Chance by Deborah Burrows (review) - Deborah Burrows wrote a couple of books set in war time Perth!

We have a big trip planned for the end of the years where we will start in The Netherlands to see my brother in law and his family.

Tulip Fever by Deborah Moggach - we won't be there for Tulip season but still

The Winter Dress by Lauren Chater - recently bought this.

From there we will go to Northern France -We don't know exactly where we are going to be staying so I am choosing the following two locations. What we do know is that there will definitely be some Normandy beaches experiences. After that we will head to Paris. Given that I only just did a French themed TTT post a couple of weeks ago,  I am going to only share one book for all of France.

All the Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr - set in St Malo

From there the plan is to head to Southern Italy.


The Postcard from Italy by Angela Petch (Review)- I was inspired to want to visit Puglia after reading this book!


The Wedding Officer by Anthony Capella - Set in Naples!

We will stop in Singapore on the way home

Tanamera by Noel Barber - I read this in my late teens or early twenties. I also read numerous other books by this author. Not sure they would stand the test of time!

The next year we are planning to spend some time in New Zealand

Chocolate Cake for Breakfast by Danielle Hawkins - Such a fun read!

And then looking even further forward we are thinking about heading to Hawaii which will include a visit to Pearl Harbour for sure.

The Lost Pearl by Emily Madden - This book is set both in Hawaii and Sydney.

I love travelling but I am always grateful to travel via the pages of a book too!

Top Ten Tuesday: Chocolate anyone?

 

 

Welcome to this week's edition of Top Ten Tuesday which is hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. This week the topic is  Books with [___] On the Cover (Pick a thing (a color, an item, a place, an animal, a scripty font, a sexy person, etc.) and share covers that have that thing on the cover.) My thing is chocolate! Originally I was thinking about posting this last week in honour of Easter but then I saw that this was the next theme it seemed perfect for this week!

I'll start with the chocolate themed books I have read, then a few that I want to read.

Friends, Lovers, Chocolate by Alexander McCall Smith - The second book in the Isabel Dalhousie series set in Edinburgh (review here)

Bread and Chocolate by Philippa Gregory - I read this short story collection more than 15 years ago. I don't remember a thing about it though! (review here)

The Chocolate Run by Dorothy Koomson - I read several Koomson books and then haven't read another for years. I do remember really liking this one

The Chocolate Thief by Laura Florand - Laura Florand has an entire series of books with chocolate titles, and then a couple of others. If you love foodie romances, especially set in France, then this series is for you. (review here)

The Chocolate Tin by Fiona McIntosh - This book was chock-full of chocolate history, set just after the end of WWI.

Chocolate Cake for Breakfast by Danielle Hawkins - I've been known to have chocolate cake for breakfast on occasion! (review)

The Chocolate Chip Murder by Joanna Fluke - This ws the first book in the Hannah Swensen cozy mystery series. I read about 8 books in the series until I got annoyed with the love triangle. There are now 28 books in the series, many with chocolate titles, but I won't be going back seeing as it appears that the love triangle thing is still going.

The Chocolate Promise by Josephine Moon - Last year I read The Jam Queens by this author, and I still have this on my Kindle to read at some point.

The Chocolate Maker's Wife by Karen Brooks - I have this book sitting on my Kindle for a while too.

The Loveliest Chocolate Shop in Paris by Jenny Colgan - I have read a number of books by Jenny Colgan over the years, but this one is still on the TBR list.

Top Ten Tuesday: Books on my Winter TBR

 

 

 

 

 

Welcome to this week's edition of Top Ten Tuesday which is hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. This week's theme is Books on our Summer (or Winter for me!) TBR pile.

The Missing Sister by Lucinda Riley - I was so saddened to hear the news of the death of author Lucinda Riley. I am a big fan of her Seven Sisters series, and I have The Missing Sister here to read or listen to. She had announced recently that there was going to be one more connected book so this might not be the last book, but it will still be bittersweet

The Lost Girl of Berlin by Ella Carey - I will be reading this for a blog tour in the next few weeks. I really enjoyed the first book in this trilogy so I am looking forward to ti!

Rogue Protocol by Martha Wells - I have recently discovered The Murderbot series and read the first two books in succession, despite not being a huge sci fi reader. This is the book that I will be starting as soon as I finish my current read.

The Jam Queens by Josephine Moon - I started listening to this but I am not getting much listening time so I will likely switch to the book

Love Among the Recipes by Carol Cram - Tamara from Thyme for Tea has just announced that Paris in July is back this year, so my plan is to read this book ready for July!

Spoiler Alert by Olivia Dade - I recently read Teach Me by Olivia Dade and enjoyed it so i am planning to read more from her.

The Pretty Delicious Cafe by Danielle Hawkins - I have read a couple of Danielle Hawkins' books and enjoyed them but I do still have a couple of her other books to read.

Things We Cannot Say by Kelly Rimmer - When I read The Warsaw Orphan I had no idea that it was linked to this earlier book. 

The Life She Imagines by Maggie Christensen - It's time for me to get back to Granite Springs and see what happens next.

The Clover Girl by Viola Shipman - This author's book, The Heirloom Garden, was one of my absolute favourite reads from last year and I am sure I am going to like this one just as much!
