Top Ten Tuesday: Water-y!

 

Welcome to this week's edition of Top Ten Tuesday which is hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. This week the theme is April Showers (Interpret this however you’d like: rainy day reads, books that make you cry, books that give you happy tears, books to wash away a bad reading experience, books set in rainy places, books with rain/raindrops/umbrellas on the cover, blue book covers, etc.). I am choosing to focus on water and rain!

Water for Elephants by Sara Gruen - I haven't thought about this book for the longest time!

The Weight of Water by Anita Shreve - I am not sure I remember anything about this book

The Seduction of Water by Carol Goodman - I read a number of Carol Goodman books back in the day!

The Water Horse by Julia Gregson - I read a few of this authors books but it's been a long time since I did so.

Fish Out of Water by Mary Janice Davidson - I only read this book because the author was coming to Australia as a guest of honour at a reader convention I was going to many, many years ago!

A Life on Pittwater by Susan Duncan - Next time I go to Sydney I wouldn't mind going out to Pittwater. It sounds like a beautiful place  

Water Under the Bridge by Lily Malone  - This is part of a trilogy set in a small town in Western Australia

Fresh Water for Flowers by Valerie Perrin - I read this for last year's Paris in July. I have a couple more books from her to read at some point

The Right Attitude to Rain by Alexander McCall Smith - This is part of the Isabel Dalhousie series set in Edinburgh

The Rainfall Market by You Yeong-Gwang - This is a fun Korean fantasy novel 

Top Ten Tuesday: Books with the Word Cafe in the Title

 Welcome to this week's edition of Top Ten Tuesday which is hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. This week's theme is Books with the Word “[Insert Word Here]” in the Title (Choose a word and find ten books with that word in the title.)

My initial thought was to use the word girl but in the last few days I have read a couple of really good books which both had the word cafe in the title, so I am going with that! 

The Handsome Man's Deluxe Cafe by Alexander McCall Smith - This is book number 15 in the No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency series

The Cafe by the Bridge by Lily Malone - This is the second book in a trilogy set in in southern Western Australia.

Midnight at the Blackbird Cafe by Heather Webb - I loved this book when I read it a few years ago (my review)

Before the Coffee Gets Cold: Tales from the Cafe by Toshikazu Kawaguchi - This is the second book in the Before the Coffee Gets Cold series

The Custard Tart Cafe by Isabella May - Just thinking about this book makes me want to eat a Portuguese Custard Tart! (my review)

The Enchanted Garden Cafe by Abigail Drake - This is the first book in a series set in Pittsburgh. (my review)

Finding Family at the Cornish Cove by Kim Nash - whoops. Had this recorded in my spreadsheet as Finding Family at the Cornish Cafe. It is, however, set in a cafe so I am keeping it! It is the second book in the lovely Cornish Cove series. (my review)

The Pumpkin Spice Cafe by Laurie Gilmore - This is the first book in the very popular Dream Harbor series.

The Bittersweet Bakery Cafe by Catherine Greer - I just read this last week and I loved it. I will be reviewing it in a couple of weeks.

The Mysterious Bakery on Rue de Paris by Evie Woods - Whoops this is a bakery not cafe but it was such a good read I am going to count it anyway!

Welcome to this week's edition of Top Ten Tuesday which is hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. This week the theme is  indie self published books. I feel a bit bad but as usual I am going off script and doing a different theme.

A couple of weeks I posted something and in the comments someone said they would have plenty of cafe books, and i do too. So here are ten books with the work cafe in the title.

Wind Chime Cafe by Sophie Moss - This is on my Kindle to read at some point.

Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistlestop Cafe by Fannie Flagg - Couldn't have a list of cafe books without this one.

Cafe La Femme series by Livia Day- Whilst this book is A Trifle Dead, it is part of the Cafe La Femme series, set in Hobart. (review)

Top Ten Tuesday: Books on my Autumn TBR

 

Welcome to this week's edition of Top Ten Tuesday which is hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. This week the topic is Books On Your Autumn TBR. 

The Christmas Party by Karen Swan - This was actually due back at the library yesterday but I am hoping that I can get through it in a couple of sittings over the next couple of days.

Red Sparrow by Jason Matthews - This is the current Cook the Books choice. It also fits the theme for my book club meeting next week. The theme is red.

Snowy Mountains Cattleman by Alissa Callen - I loved the first book in this series so I am looking forward to this one.

The Vet's Country Holiday by Lily Malone - I loved this author's previous trilogy so I am looking forward to this one.

Moving Pictures by Terry Pratchett - I am reading this for March Magics.

A Marriage of Lions by Elizabeth Chadwick - It's been far too long since I read an EC book. It's time!

10 minutes 38 seconds in this Strange World by Elif Shafak - After loving The Island of Missing Trees recently I am now planning to read more of her books.

The Custard Tart Cafe  by Isabella May - I am reading this for an upcoming blog tour.

Champagne for Breakfast by Maggie Christensen - Having read all of the Granite Springs books, I am not working my way through her other backlist books.

The Tricky Art of Forgiveness by Meredith Jaffe - The Dressmakers of Yarrandarrah was one of my favourite reads of last year so I am very excited to read this.

Top Ten Tuesday: Favourite romance reads

 

Welcome to this week's edition of Top Ten Tuesday which is hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. This week it is a freebie, but related to love! When I was deciding what books to choose, I decided to share the last ten romances I read which I rated as either 4.5 or 5 out of 5.

Snowy Mountains Daughter by Alissa Callen - I really enjoyed this book and I am super excited that the follow up has just been released.

Red White and Royal blue by Casey McQuiston - Despite loving this book I still haven't read the follow up book.

The Prenup by Lauren Layne - This was so much fun!

Beach Read by Emily Henry - Another really fun read. I liked The People We Meet on Vacation too and I am very much looking forward to Book Lovers which is out in May.

Something to Talk About by Rachael Johns - Rachael Johns is one of my go to authors and has been for many years

Romancing the Duke by Tessa Dare - Once upon a time I read a lot of historical romance, but not so much anymore. Tessa Dare is an exception as she makes me laugh.

Hearts on Hold by Charish Reid - A sexy librarian features in this interracial romance.

Last Bridge Before Home by Lily Malone - I enjoyed this one and I am looking forward to the new Lily Malone novel.

The Flat Share by Beth O'Leary -  I mentioned before that I used to read a lot of historical romance, but I didn't read a lot of contemporary romance. This book is an example of why my reading has swung around, along with several other books on this list.

Sylvester by Georgette Heyer - My final choice is old school and a book I have listened to mulitple times on audio.
