Man....

I hate waiting in doctor's surgeries.

I had to take my son back for a check up today to see how his illness was clearing up. We did the right thing and got there a couple of minutes early.

Waited.

I read three chapters of my book and then put it away thinking that it can't be much longer.

Waited some more.

Flicked through a magazine from last year.

Waited some more.

Started checking the time on my phone.

Waited.

Went up and said "Excuse me, are we going to be seen soon. We have been waiting 40 minutes". "Oh yes, you are in next." Well, I would flipping well hope so!

Waited.

Finally, after an hour of waiting, I finally got called into the doctor where he stressed the importance of attending follow up appointments because he had recorded us as a Did Not Show. I've been sitting out there for a *#@*% hour!!!

Apparently, the computer in the receptionists area showed that we were next in queue, but we weren't showing up on the doctor's list at all. "Just a glitch...sorry". They could all see me sitting there. Unless of course they regularly have people who just come and sit in the surgery for an hour at a time for fun.

And now I have to go back again on Tuesday.

Grrrrrr.

  1. How frustrating! I simply hate visiting the doctor (btw, what's a surgery?). The wait is endless.

But you know what frustrates me more than just sitting in the waiting area? It's when they bring me back to the room and leave me in there for an hour. UGH!

    I feel your pain.

  2. The building where the doctor is based. I think you maybe would call it a clinic?

  3. Reminds me of my GP (she bulk bills and thus is a very popular woman). Waiting over almost two hours at the GP with a sick toddler is just hell.

And the million dollar question...what book were you reading? ;-)

  4. Since I go by myself I always have a book but I can't imagine having someone waiting with you for that long! I hate being bored and I would have had smoke coming out of my ears ;)

Having the Dr tell me I was down as a 'no show' would have had me laughing - in a bad way ;)

  5. Been there, done that. I waited three hours for a specialist, when I was having balance troubles and then he gave me a prescription that nearly killed me. Hmm, worth the wait? I think not.

  6. Kat, I was reading The Rest Falls Away by Colleen Gleason.

Cindy, to say that the 8 year old was getting bored was an understatement!

Bookfool, hopefully his reaction to the medication might not be as bad as yours! Yikes.

  7. That's awful! What a waste of a day. Well, except for the reading part. LOL
