Top Ten Tuesday: Series I Would Like to Start, Catch Up On or Finish

 

Welcome to this week's edition of Top Ten Tuesday which is hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. This 

week the theme is Series I’d Like to Start/Catch up on/Finish. A couple of months ago, I did TTT which was about the series that I kind of, sort of, just stopped reading. In order to stretch myself I am going to to try to avoid choosing any of those series this time, which might be harder than I think but let's see.

Seven Sisters series by Lucinda Riley - I still haven't read the latest book in the Seven Sisters series. I really should get on to it given that Pa Salt's story is going to come out next year.

London Celebrities series by Lucy Parker - l recently read Act Like It, the first book in the London Celebrities series. I am really waiting for the next book in the Palace Insiders series but I am happy enough to read the next books in the London Celebrities series.

The Kiss Quotient trilogy by Helen Hoang - I've read the first book but I need to read the next couple of books too.

Murderbot series by Martha Wells - I've read the first three books in this series, but still need to read more.

Eleanor of Aquitaine series by Elizabeth Chadwick - I listened to the first book in this series a while ago but I do need to get back to the second book.

Discworld series by Terry Pratchett - I really, really need to get back to this series.

Harold Fry series by Rachel Joyce - Does a duology count as a series? I am counting it! This is an author who I have been meaning to try for the longest time. I did read a short story by her the other day which does make me want to read more.

Outback Babies series - There have been a couple series set in the small country town of Wirralong. I have read the first two books in the current series, but I haven't yet read the last two.

Before the Coffee Gets Cold trilogy by Toshikazu Kawaguchi - This is the third book in the series. This time the setting has moved to a new location so I am excited to see what happens next.

Bunyip Bay series by Rachael Johns - I honestly can't believe I haven't read this yet.

So there's just some of the series that I would like to start, catch up on or finish!

Six Degrees of Separation: The True History of the Kelly Gang to The Goldminer's Sister

 

 

Welcome to this month's edition of Six Degrees of Separation, which is a monthly meme hosted by Kate from Books Are My Favourite and Best.  The idea is to start with a specific book and make a series of links from one book to the next using whatever link you can find and see where you end up after six links.  I am also linking this post up with The Sunday Salon, hosted by Deb at Readerbuzz. 

The starting point for this month is The True History of the Kelly Gang by Peter Carey

The Codebreakers by Alli Sinclair - My first choice based on a true story that didn't come to light until the early 2000s. This book tells the story of the women who worked out of a garage in suburban Brisbane breaking codes.

The Rose Code by Kate Quinn - Another book based on the hidden history of codebreakers, this time based in Bletchley Park in the UK.

The Diamond Eye by Kate Quinn - Myconnection is really that this another Kate Quinn novel, but it doesn't hurt that this book features  a femail pilot which links it back to The Codebreakers too.

Black Diamonds by Kim Kelly - Speaking of diamonds.....

The Diamond Hunter by Fiona McIntosh- and sticking with the diamond theme

The Goldminer's Sister by Alison Stuart - My final selection moves away from diamonds towards gold. Another name for someone who hunts for diamonds and gold is a miner.

So there we have six choices that  are all historical fiction which often gives us a fictionalised version of history.

The starting poing for next month is Sorrow and Bliss by Meg Mason.

Top Ten Tuesday: Chocolate anyone?

 

 

Welcome to this week's edition of Top Ten Tuesday which is hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. This week the topic is  Books with [___] On the Cover (Pick a thing (a color, an item, a place, an animal, a scripty font, a sexy person, etc.) and share covers that have that thing on the cover.) My thing is chocolate! Originally I was thinking about posting this last week in honour of Easter but then I saw that this was the next theme it seemed perfect for this week!

I'll start with the chocolate themed books I have read, then a few that I want to read.

Friends, Lovers, Chocolate by Alexander McCall Smith - The second book in the Isabel Dalhousie series set in Edinburgh (review here)

Bread and Chocolate by Philippa Gregory - I read this short story collection more than 15 years ago. I don't remember a thing about it though! (review here)

The Chocolate Run by Dorothy Koomson - I read several Koomson books and then haven't read another for years. I do remember really liking this one

The Chocolate Thief by Laura Florand - Laura Florand has an entire series of books with chocolate titles, and then a couple of others. If you love foodie romances, especially set in France, then this series is for you. (review here)

The Chocolate Tin by Fiona McIntosh - This book was chock-full of chocolate history, set just after the end of WWI.

Chocolate Cake for Breakfast by Danielle Hawkins - I've been known to have chocolate cake for breakfast on occasion! (review)

The Chocolate Chip Murder by Joanna Fluke - This ws the first book in the Hannah Swensen cozy mystery series. I read about 8 books in the series until I got annoyed with the love triangle. There are now 28 books in the series, many with chocolate titles, but I won't be going back seeing as it appears that the love triangle thing is still going.

The Chocolate Promise by Josephine Moon - Last year I read The Jam Queens by this author, and I still have this on my Kindle to read at some point.

The Chocolate Maker's Wife by Karen Brooks - I have this book sitting on my Kindle for a while too.

The Loveliest Chocolate Shop in Paris by Jenny Colgan - I have read a number of books by Jenny Colgan over the years, but this one is still on the TBR list.

Top Ten Tuesday: Spring TBR

 

Welcome to this week's edition of Top Ten Tuesday which is hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl.  This week the theme is all about the books that we have on our TBR pile over the coming months.

Here are the books that are coming out soon that I am really looking forward to.

Return to Virgin River by Robyn Carr - Book number 19 in the Virgin River series. This was quite a surprise when it was announced earlier this year. After all, it has been 8 years since book number 18 was released.

Return of the Thief by Megan Whalen Turner - The final book in The Queen's Thief series. I was very excited when I heard about this book. Tonight I realised that I actually haven't read the last book in the series which is an oversight!

Death and the Maiden by Ariana Franklin and Samantha Norman - This is another long awaited novel which will wrap up the series. I loved the early books in this series so hard, and was gutted when Ariana Franklin passed away 10 years ago.

The Survivors by Jane Harper - I am very much looking forward to reading this latest release from Aussie crime author. And today Harper just announced that this book has been optioned for a TV series.

Christmas at the Island Hotel by Jenny Colgan - This is the next book to be set on the island of Mure. I am not necessarily a Christmas book reader but I am going to try and give this one a go!

Ready Player Two by Ernest Cline -This is another book that I am not sure we knew was coming and that we have been waiting for a long time for. Ready Player One came out 10 years ago!

The Charleston Scandal by Pamela Hart - I realy enjoyed the last books I read by this author, and I am excited by the sound of this one!

The Champagne War by Fiona McIntosh - World War I in the champagne region of France - yes please!

Flying the Nest by Rachael Johns - Rachael Johns is my Clayton's author - the author I read when I am not reading books, so I am always excite

The Cartographers Secret by Tea Cooper - I am lucky to have read lot of great historical fiction set in Australia this year, and I am hopeful that this will be another great one!
